1. m+p Coda Utilized to Save Lives

m+p international’s partner All Temp Engineering recently fabricated and installed three coolers and three freezers at BloodSource, a not for profit company located in Northern California. BloodSource collects blood from volunteer blood donors, tests, processes and delivers blood to patients around the world at a moment’s notice. Regulated by both the FDA and International standards, BloodSource required both the coolers and freezers be accepted per their specifications and then certified before being put to use.

Coda utilized at BloodSource

Utilizing m+p international’s Coda (Continuous Data Acquisition) system, air and product temperatures had to be monitored and recorded to document this critical environment. The coolers (can vary only +/- 1 degree Celsius throughout) and freezers (can vary only +/- 2 degrees Celsius throughout) range in size from 400 to 3200 cubic feet. The m+p Coda system was configured with the new VTI EX1032 LXIbus hardware to acquire temperatures at 12 points within each freezer/cooler. The user was able to accomplish multiple data acquisitions at the same time and did not have to wait to start the validation process on the next available cooler or freezer. This flexibility of acquisition cut the multiple 12 day testing time by 24 days. In turn the validations were finished a head of time. The EX1032 has 32 temperature channels and 10 voltage input channels for both local and remote data acquisition.

Since 1985 All Temp Engineering continues to maintain a successful engineering and service group, with high-level competencies in cascade refrigeration, liquid nitrogen based cooling and freezing systems, laboratory ovens, walk-in rooms, energy efficiency retrofits & system upgrades, control upgrades, thermal shock, altitude, HALT-HASS, humidity, vacuum and pressure systems, all aspects of designing and controlling environmental simulation and ultra-low/cryogenic cooling/freezing technology.

Since 1948 BloodSource has been collecting blood donations and providing life-saving blood products to the people of Northern and Central California and beyond. BloodSource is committed to doing what’s right, a simple philosophy that has helped the organization grow from a single blood bank beneath a water tower in Sacramento to one of the premier blood centers in the world.

2. Modal Analysis on Multi-Joint Systems

The R&D team "Procédés et Systèmes Mécaniques" of the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory at the INSA University in Rennes, France has purchased our SO Analyzer solution with National Instruments acquisition hardware in order to study the dynamic behavior of structures. This investment is part of ongoing research conducted by the PSM team whose main tasks include improvement and mastering dynamic performances of multi-joint mechanisms.

The picture shows a modal analysis application on a delta-type parallel robot using a NI CompactDAQ 9172 chassis, 923x acquisition modules, a 9263 generator module and a PCB modal shaker. In order to guarantee motion accuracy on multi-joint systems used in a large variety of applications requiring mechanical structures with high dynamic ranges, precise knowledge of modal parameters will allow the user to act on the control system and to modify dynamic characteristics of the structure during the design stage: geometry modification, selection of material and actuators.

3. SO Analyzer: New Hardware Supported

SO Analyzer supports new NI acquisition hardware

New hardware support added to m+p international’s recently announced 4-16 channel 40 kHz VibPilot with integral 2 sources and 2 tachos plus digital I/O is the National instruments wireless carrier which can support any of the CompactDAQ cards such as the 4-channel NI9234 for dynamic measurements with ICP or the NI9237 strain module. Also added is the new NI4431 and NI4432 which allows either 4 channels with source output or 4 channels with tacho input.

4. Vehicle Pass-by-Noise Testing

Our industry-leading pass-by-noise testing solution is available with updates for the latest ISO standards and this single operator system gets rave reviews from the users. The unique GPS system provides extremely accurate triggering, positioning and speed – freeing the user from cumbersome and error prone manual triggers, radar guns and allows immediate reverse runs and instantaneous pass fail criteria. Here is the system in operation at Cooper Tire in Texas.

Pass-by-Noise testing at Cooper Tire

“Easiest and most advanced PBN system on the market today”. Carson Miller, Track Director at Cooper Tire, says. And Gary Welch, Senior Test Technician, explains: “Simple setup and GPS operation allows me to run the system myself and knock out the runs”.
