| 1. "GPS Can't be that Accurate ... Can it?" | |||||||
Unique to our SmartOffice based vehicle Pass-by-Noise measurement system are the GPS components for both position and velocity information. This is what allows us to reduce our system down to two PC based measurement units without the need for radar, light beams, track position sensors and of course all the set-up time involved with all those components. However, our own personal SatNav experience and technical intuition regarding how GPS works often prompts the question "GPS can't be that accurate ... can it?". Well, it's not obvious but m+p engineers have developed a system that really does provide accuracy and repeatability that is measured in a few millimetres and hence have created a world-beating solution for this application. The vehicle noise, engine RPM and other measurements are performed by two SmartOffice based portable analysers. One is based at a fixed point on the vehicle test track and the other inside the vehicle being tested. The driver can operate both systems automatically from his in-vehicle PC to control his measurement runs and do on-line analysis. Final reports are also created from the powerful SmartOffice report generator. We have new literature explaining more details, email us at sales.na@mpihome.com for your copy or click here. |

| 2. Valeo: Control of Automotive Components on a Hydraulic Shaker | |||||||
The automotive industry asks its suppliers more and more to perform tests on their own. To meet this requirement, Valeo Thermique Moteur near Paris – a branch of the Valeo group which ranks among the world’s top automotive suppliers and supplies all major vehicle manufacturers - further extended their test facilities. Valeo Thermique Moteur recently awarded m+p international of Montesson, France, a contract for 4 VibPilot vibration control systems for testing engine cooling modules on a Schenck long-stroke shaker. The used VibPilot systems enable Sine, Random and Shock testing as well as RoadLoad simulation. In RoadLoad mode, VibPilot replicates the behavior previously measured on the road on the shaker, thus transfering the real conditions a vehicle undergoes during its life to the test laboratory. The vibration control software was optimized to do low-frequency tests with specific profiles. m+p international is pleased to help Valeo to improve the quality and reliability of its products. |

| 3. Vibration Control in the Displacement-Time Domain | |||||||
m+p international developed a unique vibration test stand that enables the exact replication of transient signals featuring different displacement-time histories. Normally, transient signals are controlled in the acceleration-time domain by means of accelerometers. The m+p international application is so special because vibration control is done in the displacement-time domain on a contactless laser displacement transducer (triangulation principle). To do so, the control of our VXI-based If a test is to start at full test level, stored drive signals can be directly used. The VXI system (VXI FireWire module) sends a TTL trigger signal to a high-speed camera when a transient signal is executed at time t = 0. Mobile application is another big advantage. Operation of the test stand via notebook and a “small” shaker, that nevertheless meets all kinematic requirements, enble the user to perform the tests quickly and easily wherever he wants to. This vibration test stand is only available at m+p international. For more information please contact: al.prosuk@mpihome.com or phone: (+1) 973 239 3005. |
