1. Dynamic Signal Analysis: Release of SO Analyzer Rev. 3.3

The SO Analyzer is m+p international’s versatile real-time analyzer for noise and vibration measurement, analysis and reporting in the field and in the lab.

Our latest SO Analyzer Rev. 3.3 introduces a lot of new useful capabilities and enhancements to our software, a few of them are:

  • The SO Analyzer supports m+p international’s new portable, fan-less 4-/8-channel VibPilot front-end with 24-bit resolution and USB 2.0 interfacing. Full support comprises all native sample frequencies from 1024 Hz to 102.4 kHz and input modes including AC/DC floating or grounded as well as ICP user selectable on each channel.
  • The SO Analyzer software is now fully operational under the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system.
  • The Sound Quality Module based on Zwicker loudness includes the following functions: specific loudness, loudness time history, transient loudness, sharpness time history, articulation index and percentile loudness. These functions can be viewed as 2D, 3D or as spectrograms for further analysis.
  • The 2D chart was extended by the Least Squares Fit analysis tool.
  • Standard deviation, skewness and kurtosis have been added to the value table functions.
  • A new Project Catalogue Utility has been added to the File menu to help organise and manage large data quantities.
  • A “Group by Function” option now gives even greater flexibility to how data is organized when saved at the end of the measurement run.
  • Input channels can be weighted by FIR filters (including user-defined filter shape).
  • Sound replay table of multiple filters.
  • Leq response type in octave measurements.

This software update is of course free to all our customers with current maintenance contracts.

2. Coda Data Acquisition System: All Temp Engineering Signs OEM Agreement

All Temp Engineering of San Jose, CA recently entered into an OEM agreement with m+p international, inc. of Verona, NJ to resell the m+p Coda data acquisition system.
All Temp Engineering provides products, engineering, and support services for environmental simulation and ultra-low temperature applications. Applications include:

  • Cascade refrigeration
  • Liquid nitrogen based cooling & freezing systems
  • Laboratory ovens
  • Walk-in rooms
  • Energy efficiency retrofits & system upgrades
  • Control upgrades
  • Thermal Shock, Altitude, HALT/HASS, Humidity, Vacuum & pressure systems
  • Design, build & support ultra-low/cryogenic cooling/ freezing systems.

All Temp provides products and services to Aerospace, Automotive, Biotech/Pharmaceutical, High Tech/Semiconductor, Food Process and Test lab industries.

m+p international’s Coda data acquisition system provides All Temp with continuous data acquisition/process monitoring with alarm level monitoring and actions. The Coda system is full featured product ready to use out-of-the-box with no extensive application programming required.

Please download m+p international’s 8-page Coda brochure for detailed
product information.

3. VibPilot – New Hardware Platform for Vibration Control and DSA

m+p international’s 4/8-channel VibPilot sets a new standard for affordable performance in vibration control and dynamic signal analysis.
VibPilot should be your first choice,

  • if you are searching for a compact multi-channel instrument meeting the most demanding requirements of today’s vibration testing and/or dynamic signal analysis,
  • if you need an instrument that handles general data acquisition and signal processing tasks as reliably as sine, random, shock and mixed mode testing, modal analysis, rotating machinery testing, acoustics, etc.,
  • if you want a mobile, yet powerful and highly precise instrument that covers the complete measurement process from acquisition to reporting and can be operated in any environment.

VibPilot fully supports our SO Analyzer software for efficient noise and vibration measurements and analyses as well as our VibControl software for comprehensive vibration testing.

If you want to learn more about VibPilot, please read our 4-page VibPilot brochure.
Or write or phone us at sales.na@mpihome.com, phone: (+1) 973-239-3005.

4. Pressure Measurements of Naval Ships

m+p international’s SO Analyzer covers a full range of real-time data acquisition and online & offline analysis applications in diverse industrial sectors. One of our customers uses the SO Analyzer for multi-channel shock testing of naval ships. In this application several systems are synchronized to increase the channel count. The shock responses resulting from mine explosions are acquired simultaneously across all channels. Typically, these measurements are made using piezo-resistive pressure sensors that are completed as bridge.

The acquisition hardware consists of the EX1629 48-channel, LXIbus-based bridge amplifier, three VT 1432B high-speed digitizers for a total of 48 channels measuring the dynamic bridge voltages and an EX 2500 Gigabit-Ethernet interface for remote control of the front-end. The conditionned, analog signals are transmitted via the broadband outputs (≥ 100 kHz bandwidth) of the EX1629 to the inputs of the VT1432B digitizers. Both parameterization of the EX1629 bridge amplifier and data acquisition by means of the VT1432B digitizers is done using the SO Analyzer software.

In a further step, the SO Analyzer „Shock Response Spectrum“ module helps the operator to post-process the measured data.
