1. Coda for Data Acquisition and Process Control

With the recently launched Coda product, m+p international provides a universal, turnkey software platform for data acquisition, signal analysis and process monitoring. It provides quicker time to test by eliminating costly application programming and long learning curves through comprehensive out-of-the box functionality. Equipped with an intuitive graphical user interface Coda supports measurement set-up with hundreds of channels within a few minutes.

Thanks to its modular structure and easy parameterization, Coda is the perfect solution for a wide range of applications:

  • general-purpose measurements on test stands and test assemblies
  • continuous product and process data acquisition in production
  • process monitoring in power plants, refineries, water or sewage works

Whether temperatures, pressures, forces, accelerations, frequencies, strains, etc. are to be measured - Coda processes all these signals without difficulty. Even high-channel count applications using hundreds of channels can be configured within a very short time and are handled safely and efficiently.

Static and dynamic structural tests, e. g. on aircraft or rail vehicles, are a specialty of Coda. Features include measurements with single and multi-channel strain gages, real-time strain and stress calculations, limit checking and communication with the load control system.

As standard, Coda supports a wide range of VXIbus and LXIbus frontends which are ideally suited for many measurement tasks in industry and in the laboratory because of their performance, measurement accuracy and reliability. Special measurement instrumentation can be easily integrated and Coda also communicates with subordinate process computers for data transfer.
Key features such as client/server architecture, SQL data base for parameter management, automatic frontend identification, real-time analysis of virtual channels using user-specific mathematical functions, alarm functions with user definable alarm actions specified for every channel, data replay or data export into common file formats ensure the economy and efficiency of every Coda project.

2. Shock and Bump Testing Made Simple

Do you have a shock or bump test machine?

Our SO Analyzer Data Acquisition system now includes a dedicated option for shock capture, data validation and reporting.
It allows you to use our library of standard test limit overlays, capture data from any number of channels, including triax's, filter the data, automatically adjust overlays for best fit and create reports directly into MS Word using your own templates.

You will see in the display that you get an immediate readout of key pulse parameters and the whole test is controlled from one simple window for fast and efficient use even by users less familiar with the SO Analyzer and details of the application.

3. Low Frequencies in Vibration Testing

In vibration testing (both sine and random) inaccuracies in vibration control systems at low frequency can result in the
controller calling for significant increases in table amplitude with resulting table control problems and, even, over-stroke.

David Shires, Principal Consultant at Pira International in Leatherhead/United Kingdom, uses our VibPilot system for packaging testing on a hydraulic table. Pira is a well known for its environmental/packaging test house and packaging consultancy services and David is very active in the standards community.

At the Dimensions ’07, the annual forum on transport packaging, in Orlando/Florida, David presented a paper examining issues around low-frequency random vibration tests and the control errors that commonly occur below 3 Hz.

4. m+p makes on TV

Since January 2006 NASA’s New Horizons, the fastest ever launched spacecraft, has been on its journey to Pluto. Both the full spacecraft and many components were tested by m+p international systems at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland. The systems - a 192-Channel Data Acquisition and Analysis System and a 64-Channel Vibration Control System – also include Modal Acquisition and Analysis, a Remote Analysis Station and distributed Multi-Screen support.

Recently, there was a show on the New Horizons Mission to Pluto on the US Science Channel. It gave a good insight into the testing procedures at Johns Hopkins APL. In one scene you can see the
six m+p international VibControl screens in action.

The “Passport to Pluto” show is available at http://pluto.jhuapl.edu/gallery/videos/passToPluto.php.

5. New Representative/Regional Offices in Canada and China

It is with great pleasure we announce the cooperation with Testforce, a leading supplier of test and measurement equipment in Canada since 1991 with local offices in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and Calgary. Please check out their website www.testforce.com for phone numbers and email address. Testforce will distribute the m+p international products and solutions for vibration control, noise and vibration analysis and data acquisition.

To meet the rapidly growing demands on the Chinese market, m+p international opened an office in Beijing.
Mr. Mao Hong Yang is our local Sales Manager, he has broad experience in mechanism design and analysis, business development, sales and marketing and worked for Geely Motor and LMS. In the past, we cooperated exclusively with representatives in China. m+p international has another Asian Representative Office in Singapore.
Please call our Beijing Office at (+86) 10 8283 8698 or email sales.cn@mpihome.com.
