Time Domain Recording for Vibration and Acoustic Control

More and more customers and analysts alike are requesting both the original time data and processed data. m+p international’s vibration control systems such as the VCP_PC, VibPilot, VibRunner and VibExec now support Time Domain Recording while running any vibration or acoustic control mode. Also known as digital through-put, the original gap-free time history data can be very valuable for post-test analysis and historical archiving reasons. Now with the simple addition of a PCI plug-in card and m+p’s SmartOffice Through-Put Wizard, software module up to eight, sixteen, twenty-four, thirty-two channels and beyond can be recorded to disk at rates to 102.4 kHz sampling without compromising control. SmartOffice’s Advanced Data Reduction Wizards for Random, Sine and Shock allow overlap processing, blocksizes over 32,768, different windowing and averaging techniques for Random; overall level, harmonic analysis and COLA spline fit for high accuracy Sine analysis and in Shock up to 1/24th Octave analysis, primary, residual, positive and negative SRS, signal pre-conditioning and automated processing with multiple damping estimates. Data can be analyzed locally or if the control system is tied up, on a remote PC.

If something fails you’ll never miss having the snapshot of data you need...

Similar to m+p’s Vibco software the SmartOffice Through-Put and Advanced Data Reduction Wizards run in Microsoft Windows NT/2000 or XP environment with an intelligent wizard providing safe, simple and efficient user guidance. An e-Reporter offers many convenient reporting features, for instance, you can copy and paste all obtained graphical results into ActiveX compliant applications such as Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for richer and more comprehensive reports. SmartOffice is scalable and supports modules for Modal and Advanced Modal Analysis, Acoustic Analysis, Rotating Machinery Analysis along with an Advanced Post Processing Wizard. Repetitive tasks can be automated using a Visual Basic-compatible programming language. The software package also includes a step-by-step approach to create a geometry model of the unit under test for operating deflection shape analysis.

SmartOffice supports National Instruments PCI-4472 and PXI-4472 8-channel dynamic signal acquisition devices. The input channels of these models simultaneously digitize input signals over a bandwidth from DC to 45 kHz. Other features of the NI 4472: 24-bit resolution, 120 dB dynamic range, 102.4 kS/s maximum sampling rate, 45 kHz alias-free bandwidth, ± 10 V input signal range, AC/DC coupling, ICP® conditioning - software configurable.

Astrium Upgrades VibExec to 128 Input Channels

The Astrium Environmental Test Laboratory has been working sucessfully with our VibExec 96-channel vibration control system for more than a year. To test the INTELSAT 10-01 C-BAND ANTENNAS, Astrium now increases the number of input channels by 32 to a total of 128 channels. Channel count extension is very easy: You only have to plug additional digitizers into the existing VXI mainframe.

The measurement and control channels used for testing the antennas at Astrium are specified as accelerometers, force transducers and strain gauges. Output limiters protect the antennas again an overload, i.e. against their destruction. VibExec provides an extremely fast measuring data acquisition which is of vital importance especially for high-channel count testing.

KIS Process Data Interface for VW Power Plant

VW Kraftwerk GmbH operates several power plants in Germany. The emission data of all power plants are centrally monitored at Volkswagen headquarters in Wolfsburg. Since 1989, VW Kraftwerk GmbH has used the m+p international ZEMID Central Emission Data System.

The privatization of the German market forced VW Kraftwerk GmbH, among other power plants, to use new production monitoring tools. The main goal of these tools was to generate uniform analyses of all process data with minimum manpower. We are pleased that VW Kraftwerk GmbH has selected m+p international to develop such a production monitoring tool.

The m+p international KIS Process Data Interface collects data from process control systems of different manufacturers as well as directly at the measuring points. The functions of the ZEMID system in use at VW Kraftwerk GmbH were completely integrated into the new KIS system. All graphic and tabular KIS analyses are available for at least ten years. The Windows NTTM/2000TM-based KIS Process Data Interface guarantees easy and reliable operation. The flexibility of the system allows importing the KIS data directly into MS Excel or MS Word for customized graphic and tabular analyses.
